How to go about it
- Check that your equipment is suitable.
- Install the right app: Player, Kiosk or POS.
- Create the screen, kiosk or register in the dashboard and pair it with the pairing code.
- For a kiosk or register, connect the receipt printer and the card terminal.
- Turn it into a dedicated device that starts up by itself when switched on.
1. Check your equipment
The Narrow.TV Player, Kiosk and POS run on Android, Linux and Windows. An Android TV or Google TV, an Android box or stick, an Android tablet, a mini PC or a Windows PC is therefore often all you need. Which version and how much memory you need as a minimum can be found in the system requirements.
Does your TV not have Android TV, like many Samsung and LG TVs? Then connect a small media player via HDMI and install the player on that. More about this can be found in digital signage on a smart TV.
2. Install the right app
- Narrow.TV Player for screens, menu boards and video walls. How to install it on Android, Linux and Windows is explained in installing the player.
- Narrow.TV Kiosk for the order kiosk, on a touchscreen or a tablet.
- Narrow.TV POS for taking payments. The POS also works in the browser; you need the app to print receipts directly.
You install the Android apps from Google Play. You request the apps for Linux and Windows through support, and we will send you the download.
3. Create and pair
Create a screen, order kiosk or register in the dashboard. You get a pairing code, which you enter in the app. Your content then appears automatically. The step-by-step guide is in creating and pairing your screen.
4. Kiosk and POS: printer and card terminal
- Receipt printer: you set up a network printer with its IP address and port (usually 9100). Depending on the device, USB is also possible.
- Cash drawer: you connect it to the receipt printer; the POS opens it for a cash payment.
- Card terminal: link your payment account and the card terminal in the POS settings of the dashboard.
- Customer display: a second screen at the register shows customers what they are paying for.
5. Turn it into a dedicated device
- Automatic start: on Android, set the app as the home screen. On Linux and Windows the app starts by itself after installation.
- No sleep mode: turn off sleep mode and the screen saver so the picture stays on.
- Stable internet: use a network cable where possible. During a short interruption, the player simply keeps playing the most recently loaded content.
- Switching on and off: set fixed times on the TV itself if the screen may be off at night.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to buy new hardware?
Usually not. The Narrow.TV apps run on Android, Linux and Windows, so you can keep using many existing TVs, media players, tablets, PCs and registers. The system requirements show what you need as a minimum.
Where do I download the apps for Linux and Windows?
The Android apps are on Google Play. The apps for Linux and Windows are not in an app store: request the installer through support and we will send you the download.
My smart TV does not have Android TV. Can I still use it?
Yes. Connect a small media player via HDMI, for example an Android TV box or a mini PC, and install the Narrow.TV Player on it. The TV itself then only needs to show the picture.
Can Narrow.TV do the installation for me?
Yes. Through our hardware partners we supply and install screens, players, kiosks and registers, or we put our software on your existing equipment. Get in touch with us via the hardware page.
